I have installed Debian and Asterisk on USB by following the instructions, I'm wandering if anyone has tried to install Asterisk on internal flash.

I have installed Emdebian on internal flash following the link:
http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,72

This is read only version of Debian so flash memory won't wear out. I hope I could add Asterisk to it.

This is why I am testing flashybrid and why PlugPBX 2.0 will be built on it, for exactly these reasons Smiley

But the tons of ram in a sheevaplug easily allow this, and the restricted ram in a dockstar does not. Hence why I prefer the sheevaplug for flash based 'easy' embeded style machines.

If you are using a DockStar, a HD based system is the simplest and safest route basically or a lot of embeded style system building.

How to get back to pogoplug if flashiing nand internal memory?

I tried Openwrt with asterisk in intrenal flash and it works.  However, I feel more comfortable to install in USB for the reason mentioned by others.  If you installed internal flash and it changed your mtd1 partition, you can restore the pogoplug firmware by using the instruction given in: http://plugapps.com/index.php5?title=Hardware:_Seagate_DockStar_Reflashing.  However, the procedure will not work with jeff's mtd0 uboot.  You need to reflash back the original uboot.  It is pretty simple but there are risk involved.  You have to decide if you want to do that or not before you install anything in internal flash.
