I only make it work successfully on Asterisk 1.4.  I tried it once on 1.6 and was not successful as far as I can remember.  I am now working on Asterisk 1.8 but cannot make it work reliably yet.

I grabbed the 1.4 source from asterisk.org and was able to build it and follow the rest of the guide to have it working. The only thing I need to do was to change PROC=armv5tel to PROC=arm in makeopts after configure but before make.

If you use lenny, you can directly do a apt-get install asterisk.  If you use squeez you will need to compile asterisk 1.4.
