Well, this movement from a laptop to plugpbx had made for difficult troubleshooting because i had to sync versions on both systems to backup/restore, ie transfer my settings.  So, its difficult to know which problem derives from plugpbx or the debian installation, or from upgrading Asterisk/FreePBX.

Last night i noticed my MWI message waiting indicator light was not working on any of my phones when a message came in.  In the EXTENSIONS menu option, go down to DEVICE OPTIONS.  One of the options is MAILBOX.  Well, it used to work just fine if you had XXX@device xxx being the extension #.  I found the problem when i deleted the extension and recreated it and then noticed the difference.  Let me save you the time.

change your xxx@device  to  xxx@default

MWI will come back to life!

Hope i save someone some time.

Yup. MWI can have context.

So you could have @default or @kids for the kids voicemail pool.

You also can do tricks like slaving all the MWI for all phones to a single extension. We do this in our house. Each phone in the house is an extension, but all calls route to a fake extension i created of 1234. Each other real phone has its MWI resource set to 1234@default - and now when a message awaits, all the MWI lights on all phones in the blink together. Fun stuff Wink

Thanks for posting the details for others!

Yes, this i knew and have been using in our household.  I have all the phones linked to the same voicemail account.  For some reason, this upgrade busted using @device from working.

I have setup intercom so its easy to talk to people in other rooms.  I've added the Wakeup Feature which is my personal favorite to wake people up in the morning.

We have our own weather station, and i plan on swapping the weather lookup from our local zipcode and re-designing it to pull weather from our weather station so we have exact instant temperature and humidity.

Fun Fun Fun...
