Hello again,

I am trying to figure out some strange behavior and was hoping for some help on here.

My SheevaPlug runs my PlugPBX and the incoming route is configured as below:
Trunk incoming -> inbound router -> announcement -> IVR -> choice 1 -> ring group -> rings 2 extensions.

Ext 200 is my ATA device.
Ext 201 is my X-Lite (for when I work from home).

Now when I choose choice 1 at the IVR, if my X-Lite is running then only that rings.
If X-Lite is not running then it appears to see that my ATA device is busy.

My ATA device is a Linksys SPA-2102 btw.

Any ideas?
I have disabled and uninstall 'Follow Me' as a test but that did not seem to help.

Also to note, from the analog cordless phone on my ATA device I am still able to make outgoing calls and check my voicemail on the system.

Thanks,

Ring Group is not setup right.

I use a ring group to send calls to various phones in the house, they all ring together

Do you use the 'RINGALL" ring strategy?

Baby Steps.

You need to get each extension working correctly period. So start simple. Get inbound calls routed direct to the ATA. Get that working (lots of people use the 2102, i recommend it the most) so that it can receive and place calls.

What if the XLITE phone calls the 2102 directly? Busy signals?  Something is fishy Wink

Perhaps install a second XLITE on another PC in the house, assign it to the 2102, still busy?
Does the issue follow the 2102 or the extensions. IE swap the extensions used by XLITE and the 2102, does the problem follow the extension (Asterisk / FreePBX config issue) or does the problem follow the 2102 (likely ATA configuration issue).

The same then applies to the XLITE phone.

THEN, add ONE of them to a ring group. Get that to work in and outbound. THEN add a second phone. Baby steps.

A packet capture would be ideal, wireshark can display things easily as to whats going on (ladder diagram). If you are savvy, take run a pcap of the SIP traffic between PlugPBX and your phones (only grab SIP) and I can take a quick peek at the signaling worse case.... BUT....start small, work up.... this is complex stuff at times Wink

So in order to narrow down the problem I set it so the inbound route points directly to the extension for the ATA device and I get the busy message.

I then started up another copy of X-Lite and had it register as the ATA device and that ran with no problems.

I guess the problem is in the ATA device.

Turns out it's my ATA device.

I made a new extension and added it to the ring group and it works perfectly but if I keep the phones plugged into the Line 1 it won't ring and returns FreePBX a constant busy signal.

So you need to debug your ATA's configuration further. Flash it up to the latest firmware after you zap it back to factory defaults, now is a good time to start fresh and new.

Then configure as few paramaters as possible for it to register to a SIP account and go from there.

1) looking at the SIP traffic between it and Asterisk important, either with asterisk debug console or say wireshark
2) you can setup the ATA to dump diagnostics via syslog, set the debug level and study further
3) compare configuration with online examples and peers

Key troubleshooting, always involves finding 'what' the problem follows first, then focusing your might on the actual problem.

You were quick to blame FreePBX/Asterisk/PlugPBX   tsk tsk tsk   Grin

He He yeah,

I didn't look too much before asking.  One of these days I will get around to flashing and resetting my SPA 2102 but until then I'll just keep using Line 2.

If anyone else notices this effect please post it here.

Also to note, there is no upgrade for the firmware, Cisco seems to be going out of their way to not provide one and it looks like they're just going to try to phase it out.  Stupid take overs.
