How come Asterisk still needs to be compiled now? There's no "apt-get" for it since the bug is fixed in the official version now?
Its hit and miss. What debian asterisk package maintainers put in is....varied. I used to run a stock apt-get install of asterisk on debian on my buffalo NAS, but again even then it varied year to year what you'd get. Often, they also don't compile ALL the extensions one might want. So far its best to just compile your own.
I wish it was more consistent.
I am still on the fence, wondering if perhaps FreeSwitch might be a better route, if its more stable from an apt point of view, but I'm hesitant about that too. Still debating alot myself. Glad to see 1.8 is firming up, perhaps its mature enough now on arm to embrace.
