Hi,

I have a 'funky' project I need a device for.  I need to register (up to) 100 SIP devices to an Asterisk server.

When a call is placed in from an outside source, all 100 devices receive the same incoming audio stream, (think emergency annouchment system).

Ideally - the Asterisk server should be as low maintenance as possiple - zero if possiple.

None of the devices ever call out using this Asterisk server.

How many devices do you think a Plug PBX could support?  I read some where maybe 50.  Do you think it could support half the audio for twice the number of calls?

Alternatives are a mini-ATX based PC running from a USB stick or solid drive.

Ideas?

Regards

Assuming its not trans coding media, but just hairpining to the 100 devices, it should be able to do that no issue.

I've done that in the pass with Grandstream phones and asterisk, setting up an 'intercom' type deal where you could 'page' the office. One output was a PC's sound card wired into the shop PA system, and the Grandstream phones were all setup to 'answer' the page call then route the audio to the speakerphone.

You can find out how to do that on voip-info.org - or your friendly google. The Plug should be able to handle it no problem.

If you saw the kinds of workloads I throw at sheavaplugs doing things besides a PBX you'd believe it Wink
