Hi,

First of all than you for PlugPBX!

I have a problem on my plug where the asterisk process is taking all of the CPU available so the system is 100% cpu usage all the time. I ran top on the console and saw it was the asterisk doing it.

I'm using uboot 3.4.27 and a kingston 4gb class 6 sd. I was thinking I'll change uboot to the version 19 today...

Anything you can suggest I can check out would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like an Asterisk issue, not specific to PlugPBX really...

How about some details. What made this occur, what configuration change, extension, service, trunk or otherwise. You've made changes / additions to the setup out of box I assume, so do detail it some more Smiley

I'd also google around abit and perhaps post on asterisk forums in addition to here...

Nothing really specific that is different that I can see. Basically its a new plug i bought off globalscale couple of weeks ago put in plugpbx as per online instructions. The only thing that is different is I used the more recent uboot from the plugcomputer website. So far I've tried to reimage my sd card but no dice. Do you think it might be the plug itself that messed up or it has to be asterisk?

Thanks! I'll post up whatever I come up with here.

The newer uboot should not matter, but can't be sure.

The SD card image could also be an issue (or the SD card its on) if some corruption exists somewhere.

Up to now, everyone else has loaded uboot .19 and not had issues with Asterisk...

The key question, is - does asterisk go to 100% usage with the out of box SD card image before you made any changes?

I did an apt-get update and it got fixed.

I was watching it while it was powering up and the CPU usage went up to 100% right when asterisk start doing something. Just a shot in the dark I thought I'd update it and just reimage the sd card if it didn't work.

$20 says something got corrupt on the card? Ahh well. If you could dig up what apt updated that might help in determining what was at fault...

If you upgraded via apt-get you'll have broken the MeetMe() as it would have likely upgraded your kernel too.

I am having this exact same issue. Just got a SheevaPlug from Globalscale today, installed uboot 3.4.27, installed plugpbx. The cpu load is low for about a minute after booting and then shoots up to 100%.

I haven't made any changes to the config yet.

Any recommendations? I don't want to do an apt-get update if its going to break MeetMe.

Also of note...

I can't seem to get the PBX to boot properly unless the USB cable is plugged into the computer, otherwise it never comes online.

Will revert to .19 and see if this fixes the issue.

Ok, an update...

Reverting to uboot .19 seems to have solved the issue.

If anyone else reads this... do not install the version of uboot provided on the uboot tutorial, instead use the version of uboot on the plugpbx download site.

a further update...

I've still haven't made any changes to the basic config yet, I've just been watching it to see how stable it runs. I noticed that every few minutes the cpu spikes to 100% I ran top and it showed asterisk as the hog.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

No idea. Its obviously Asterisk related. I've never seen this with any of my equipment or tests. I've exlusively used .19 of uboot all this time...

Did you change anything from the default? Any hardware connected?

I just registered so I could post this Smiley

The high CPU is likely caused by a bad RC script starting asterisk. See https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=16887 for the quick fix.

I have the same problem with my Dockstar installation.  What you posted is probably the cause.  Could you tell me when is the RC script of the Sheeva installation?
